Since The Corona Virus Disease hit the local area months ago in March, our area has experienced a deep downhill fall. Recently, Covid-19 has not only hit Americans country wide rough, but south Carolina, and Cherokee county itself.
As Companies, stores, churches, and schools around the state have began opening back up, Covid cases have risen tremendously.

As of January 29, 2021 at 9:16am, statewide, there have been 4,799,498 tests given, 431, 169 confirmed positive cases, 27,739 hospitalized for Covid, 6,903 deaths.. In Cherokee County alone, DHec statistics show that currently there have been 37,063 tests given, 4,414 confirmed positive cases, 335 hospitalized for Covid, and 115 deaths. As we all know, Cherokee County is fairly small. For such a small place to live, these numbers are extremely high. Many people and faamilies have been affected by this virus, including my own.

In late October, my mother was diagnosed with Corona Virus, she went into the hospital on October 31,2020, COVID-19 Double Pneumonia. She remained in the hospitalfor a total of five days, while my father and I were sick at home and both also been positive for COVID. The same day my mother returned home, my father went into the hospital. On November 11, 2020, my father was put on a ventilator. Later that evening we were told that he needed to be put on an EKMO (Heart-Lung Bypass) machine but in order to do that he would have to be transferred to Duke Medical Hospital. He was offically transferred to Duke on November 12,2020. We were finally able to visit him on Novemer 25,2020. Four days into our fve day trip, we were faced with awful news. My dad had a toughfight, but he fought for as long as he could, before going to his forever home with the Lord on November 28, 2020.

COVID is something that we should all be extremely aware and cautious of. The statistics locally, and statewide are outrageous and way higher than they should be. This pandemic is an absolute nightmare! Not only my family has been affected by this awful disease, families all over our very own area, and worldwide have been faced with this deadly virus, and experenced tragedy. Please protect yourself and your family members by being cautious of the COVID-19 Virus. Wear your mask, and do your best to social distance.
