Getting Ready for the Holidays!

Lauren Ingle, Assistant Editor

With Thanksgiving passing, the “most wonderful time of the year” is rapidly approaching. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or nothing at all, I am pretty sure we are all ready for the New Year. Before the year ends however, we can enjoy time with each other!

If you do celebrate, get ready for the festivities! If you are anything like me, then you love to decorate. Most people decorate their houses with Christmas lights, and decorate Christmas trees. Wreaths go up on doors and stockings hang on the chimneys. Hot chocolate and apple cider are being made. Stores start selling eggnog. Holiday movies start coming on the TV, such as Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, and Charlie Brown. While most people are “dreaming of a white Christmas,” most kids are hoping it comes sooner: to get out of school, go sledding, building snowmen. The fun of the holidays is just getting started!

Due to some places being closed due to COVID-19, you may not be able to do all of the things you normally would. There are other things you can do while staying safe. You and your family can all go on a drive to see Christmas lights. This can be free, or you can choose to go to a place like Hollywild. Hollywild is an animal park that sets up Christmas lights each year, and you can drive through it.

Some ice skating rinks are open. Just make sure you call the place your looking at going first to ensure that they are open and that you are following CDC guidelines. With all of this going on, make sure that you are spending as much time with your friends and family as possible. This is a season of giving, and to spend time with loved ones.

With that being said, have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a great New Year.
