Justice For Breonna Taylor

Justice For Breonna Taylor

Many news stories and celebrities have focused on finding justice for Breonna Taylor over the last several months, but who was Breonna Taylor and what happened to her?

Breonna Taylor was a 26 year old paramedic from Louisville, Kentucky. On March 13th, Breonna was shot in her home by three police officers. Ms. Taylor was in bed watching a movie with Kenneth Walker, her boyfriend, when Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove entered the apartment, mistaking it for another.

Mr. Walker, mistaking the officers for intruders, got his gun and fired a shot, which wounded one of the officers. The officers then began to blindly fire several shots, striking Breonna five times, causing her to bleed out.

Months later, none of these officers have been charged. Kenneth Walker was charged with the attempted murder of a police officer, but fortunately the charges were dropped.

Ms. Taylor’s murder, along with the murders of many other African-Americans by police officers, have sparked many protests this summer. However, despite all the protesting and petition signing that has been done, Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove, are still free.
