Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
National Hispanic Heritage Month begins September 15 to October 15 to celebrate and recognize the impact Hispanic and Latino Americans make in American society and culture.
This celebration began in 1968, where Hispanic Heritage Month was originally “Hispanic Heritage Week” until it was extended to a month during President Ronald Reagan’s term in 1988.
September 15 is also symbolic because it is independence day for Latin American countries Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Costa Rica.
Latino small business owners are one of the fastest growing groups of entrepreneurs. According to the Hispanic Business Resource Center, “Hispanic, Latino and Latinx-owned small business are among the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic…” Therefore, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, support your local Hispanic small business!
