Who would have thought the 2017-2018 NFL season would be playing out the way it is? At the beginning of the season, the Superbowl 51 champions, the Patriots, was the top pick to win it all again. However, their glory quickly faded as they were beaten by 15 points in Foxborough against the Chiefs and lost 30-33 in week four to the Panthers. Though the season is only five weeks in, I have a few teams in mind that could win it all this year.

My number one pick is the Kansas City Chiefs. Some might say that it was a blessing that running back Spencer Ware tore his PCL so that newcomer Kareem Hunt could make his debut in Foxborough. He has averaged 127 yards a game and has scored 4 touch downs so far this season. Quarter back Alex smith is having his best season in years, and the defense has talent at every position. It is hard not to put your trust in the only undefeated team in the NFL.

My next pick that could win Superbowl 52 is the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers finally has healthy receivers that he can throw to; Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, and new comer Martellus Bennett are healthy and been performing at the top of their game. Also, Green Bay picked up running back Aaron Jones in the draft.  He made his debut week three against the Bears where he scored a TD and put up 125 yards against Dallas in week. The Cheese Heads and I are optimistic about the Packers future this season

My next pick to win it all is the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have so many threats on offense it is scary. Former MVP Matt Ryan can throw the ball to Julio Jones, Austin Cooper, Mohamed Sanu, Tevin Coleman, Taylor Gabriel (All with 120 plus yards so far). Running Back Devonte Freeman has scored 5 touch downs this season. Atlanta’s pass game is gaining ground, but they are not able to punch it in at the end. Not a single receiver on their roster has more than one TD. This is the reason I put them under the Packers.

My fourth pick is the Philadelphia Eagles. I didn’t see them being a threat in the post season especially after they didn’t make it to the play offs last year; however their offense and defense is electrifying to watch. Quarterback Carson Wentz has more yards than Aaron Rodgers, and they traded for LeGarrette Blount in the off season. Blount is running over defensive backs for every yard he can get. However they really shine in the pass game.

The Eagles have 4 receivers with 200 plus yards including: Zach Hertz, Nelson Agholor, Alshon Jeffery, and Torrie Smith. Their defense has taken hits with injuries in past seasons. Now they are healthy as ever and dominating the field. Key players like Nigel Bradham (leading tackler with 25 solos and 13 assists) and Brandon Graham (most sacks with 4) are stepping up to the plate.  My last pick for the team that could win it all this year is the New England Patriots. Tom Brady is 40 years old and is the best quarterback in the league. The only real hit the offense has taken is Julian Edelman who tore his ACL in the preseason. The Patriots defense has just been inconsistent. They gave up 42 points to Kansas and the next week just 20 to the Saint’s offense. The Patriots gave up 33 to the Panthers and the next week only 14 to the Buccaneers. The loss of Julian Edelman and the inconsistencies on defense is why I had to put them at 5. Its only Five weeks so none of my predictions are set in stone. As we have learned so far, anything can happen.
