What happened to monkey pox?? On May 18, 2022, in Boston Massachusetts the first case of Monkey pox was discovered. Monkey pox is a rare disease caused by an infection with monkey pox. It is a blister or pus-filled bump or an open sore. The virus is part of the same family of viruses such as smallpox. This led to a new virus becoming a major problem and it was reported from countries in Europe and the Americas. As of October 21, there were twenty-seven thousand eight hundred eighty-one cases across the fifty states, the district of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Monkeypox can spread to anyone through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact, including any physical contact. Once you first get the rash it will look like pimples or little blisters around your mouth and will start to spread all around your body. Most people who have had monkey pox say it can take up to weeks for the rash to clear and go away. Ways to prevent yourself from getting the virus are to avoid skin-to-skin contact with people who look to have the rash, avoid contact with things that people who have the rash have used or touched, and wash your hands more often. Research says “Most monkeypox lesions will not leave a scar behind, but it is possible to have scarring and discoloration.” Over the past could of months many people have not been talking about Monkey Pox as much as they were when it first came out, it is like the virus has just disappeared. Everyone has been talking about the Flu and how bad it has been this year. I feel like when the disease first hit it was important and everyone was talking about it, and it was always the main topic. Now the main topic is everything is the Flu, and everybody needs to do this and that to avoid getting it.
