The 2018 Superbowl Champions have moved from the field to the studio for round two this holiday season. The Philadelphia Eagles released their Christmas album ‘A Philly Special Christmas Special,’ accompanied by athletes and vocalists Jason Kelce (center), and two tackles, Jason Mailata and Lane Johnson. Alongside the mains stars, the album has many fun features too – such as Jason’s brother and infamously Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and Patti LaBelle, the “Godmother of Soul.” Funnily enough, one of the singles for the album was the Kelce brother’s rendition of the 1987 classic “Fairytale of New York’, which earned the players a number 1 spot on music charts.
Whether it be from physical copies or digital streams, each amount of earnings received from this record is donated straight to Philadelphia Area charities. “The Philly Specials are all about giving back to their city,” writes Apple Music, “and this holiday season is no different – all proceeds from the album will benefit the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center (CCTC.)” Just by taking a listen to the album on your favorite streaming platform, raising money for a good cause is simply a click away.
Raising money for good causes is something the Kelce brothers are known to do. For instance, “(Be) Philly” is a non-profit organization founded by Jason Kelce himself.
The foundation makes “it easier for all Philadelphians to improve our city and our communities by directly investing in our youth.” The charity raises money through sales through Underdog Apparel and direct donations. “(Be)Philly provides financial support and increased visibility to charitable organizations with a proven track record of improving the education and economic outcomes of students in the Philadelphia public schools.” For Jason’s younger brother, Travis, he founded the organization known as Eighty-Seven & Running.
On their official website describing their mission and story, it reads, “Eighty-Seven & Running helps undeserved youth strive to become productive citizens by mentoring and motivating them to explore and develop their abilities while learning critical life skills.” Both brothers love to give back to the communities they were raised in and adore, and this album expresses that and much more.
If you want to do a good deed this Holiday Season and enjoy excellent Christmas music, “A Philly Special Christmas Special” can be found on Apple Music, Spotify, and other listening services as well.

While speaking of good deeds, it’s important to know that these compassionate contributions can be made in our community, too. I deeply encourage you to take time to volunteer at our local meals on wheels, harbor of hope, the salvation army, and more. Donations don’t have to necessarily be cash – donating your time and heart is just as appreciated and valuable.
