The Charlotte Hornets are the most fun team in basketball.  From the announcing by the electric Eric Collins to the alley-oops from LaMelo to Miles, this team is nothing but pure entertainment. So far this season The Hornets are 29-31. While they may be below .500, this record is a good enough for the 9th seed in the Eastern Conference. The playoff race is tight in the East and the Hornets look to make their way there for the first time since 2016.

The main attraction of the team is All-Star guard LaMelo Ball. Ball is only 20-years-old and already the best player the Hornets have had since Kemba Walker. After coming off a Rookie of the Year award in his first season, LaMelo did not slow down and is averaging 20 points-per-game, 7 assists a game, and 7 rebounds a game.

While having an average age of 24.9, about a year younger than the league average, they are still seeing success. The core of this team is extremely young with LaMelo Ball being 20 and Miles Bridges and PJ Washington both being 23. Rookies James Bouknight and Kai Jones are both only 21, and the youngest player on the team being JT Thor who is 19. These rookies look very promising as we’ve seen brief flashes of them over the season. The oldest players on the team are Gordon Hayward and Mason Plumlee who are both 31. They provide veteran knowledge to let the young players grow while still contributing to the team’s winning right now.

Even if a person is watching the games from home they can still feel the energy of The Hive with the help of broadcaster Eric Collins. Eric Collins is undisputedly the best announcer in the league because of his calls that are full of enthusiasm. His calls “Hum diddly dee!” or the excited “Oh Terry!” make the Hornets broadcast the most entertaining to watch in the league.

The Hornets are a fun team to watch. Usually when a team is this fun or this young they are not playing winning basketball, but the Hornets are. Them being 9th in the East exceeds many people’s expectations. The Hornets can’t do anything but get better as their young players grow into their roles. The Hornets look to finish the rest of the season off strong and get into the playoffs!
