Kabul Memorial

Kabul Memorial

Hannah Motts, Staff Writer

A memorial to the 13 service members killed in Kabul, Afghanistan when gunmen and suicide bombers rushed the airport killing 60 Afghans and 13 US Troop members. It sits by the main gate next to the road at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. At each one has a pair of boots, flowers, American flags and unopened beers. Tarps and sheets hang on the fence alongside the road and have the names of the dead and those killed in action, hang in honor. Communities all over Eastern North and the country are showing support in different ways to honor the service members who were killed. Many bars and restaurants are resaving 13 glasses and tables for them. A local man is honoring the men and women killed in the explosion. Tragic news on Thursday, Burgess tells EastldaholNews.com he felt inspired to do something to honor the sacrifices of these men and women and they have friends in the military who knew some of them personally. He decided it was worth it to open it up to the community to come and pay their respects. The memorial tribute is on display at 4347 East Ellington Way in Idaho Falls beginning at 8 p.m. the community is invited to come and see it. Trucks from Intermountain Gas will be flashing a strobe light to help set the mood. Ammon Fire Department and Bonneville County Sheriffs Office may also make an appearance (said by the https://www.eastidahonews.com). These men and women made the ultimate sacrifice so that others could live. They were and will be forever remembered as heroes, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement “My heart and my thoughts are with their families, especially today. They too have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
