This week I listened to a Song,”Stand up” by Cynthia Erivo. You may have heard this song in the movie that was about Mrs. Harriet Tubman. The Song was created to tell a story of Mrs. Harriet escaped as a young adult running miles through forest and fields. My Favorite part of the song is where Mrs. Cynthia says,” Stand up/ Take my people with me/ Together we are going to a brand new home/ Far across the river/I can hear freedom calling; Calling me to answer/ Gonna keep on keeping on”. The theme of this song was hope, overcoming obstacles and kindness for others to present in the film. “The song (for me) is a thank you to Harriet- and expression of hope, strength and inspiration to do good for one another. It was very special for me to write a song that could share a bit of her story. Harriet deserves a million songs,” Cynthia said of the song.
