“So, take joy in the journey – Even when it feels long”

“So, take joy in the journey – Even when it feels long”

“The world suffers a lot. Not because of the violence of bad people, but because of the silence of good people.” – unknown

When thinking about the world around us right now, it is very saddening and disturbing. The world has changed a lot the past couple of decades. The world has become a place of violence, protesting, hate, crime, and danger. The world is divided right now because of race, color, religion, social class, and even a pandemic. The world has always been a sinful and scary place, but right now it probably is more scary than it has ever been. The world craves attention, desire, and answers. It is scary to think of how life will be for us all in a few years, and even months from now. However, we don’t have to live in fear.

God says this, “For [I have] not given [you] a spirt of fear but one of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

We don’t have to live in a spirit of fear because of this scary world. We will feel the pain of the world and wonder why we all have to face this all but we don’t have to carry the burdens of it alone.

The song “Why God” by Austin French, it explains it best…

“Why God
Do people have to die?
A daughter or a son
Sudden and so young
Long before their time?
Why God
Do people fall apart?
A promise and a ring
Becomes a broken thing
A road that got too hard?
I don’t understand
But I understand
Why God, I need You
It’s, why God, I run to Your arms
Over and over again
It’s, why God, I cling to Your love
And hold on for dear life
And I find, You are right by my side
Why God
Do we feel so alone?
Every single day
Fighting through the pain
Hoping there is hope?
I don’t understand
But I understand
Why God, I need You
It’s, why God, I run to Your arms
Over and over again
It’s why God, I cling to Your love
And hold on for dear life
And I find, You are right by my side, ooh…
Give me a faith stronger than I have
I need to… More”

This song sums it up well of asking the questions “why” and “what’s the point”

What’s the point of pain?
What’s the point of loss?
What’s the point of fear?
What’s the point of death?
What’s the point of living?

Austin states in his song that he does not “understand but he understands” why he needs God every single day. He is explaining that he does not understand why things have to happen to people, why good people are taken too soon, or why there is even pain to begin with, but those are the reasons that he understands that he needs God.

“When things are darkest, God shines his light the brightest.”
“Before you sleep, remember that it’s ok to not be ok. We all have our struggles. God loves you for who you are, but too much to leave you that way.”

With God, we don’t have to carry our own burdens, sin, pain, hurt, guilt, or loss.
