Synopsis: In Prentisstown, Todd Hewitt has been brought up to believe that the Spackle released a germ that killed all the women and unleashed Noise on the remaining men, which allows everyone to hear each other’s thoughts. After discovering a patch of silence out in the swamp, his surrogate parents immediately tell him that he has to run, leaving him with only a map of New World, a message, and many unanswered questions. He soon discovers the source of the silence: a girl, named Viola.

This Sci-fi post-apocalyptic film was released on March 5 which stars two of the most popular actors in the entertainment industry: Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley. Holland rose in popularity from starring as the new Spider-Man while Ridley starred in many films of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. If you’re like me, the second I saw Tom Holland in the trailer, I bought my tickets to the movie and I wasn’t disappointed.

I love sci-fi and dystopian-like movies and shows so this was the perfect movie for me to watch. From the beginning, I was automatically confused because this was a surprisingly fast paced movie. It took me a bit to catch on to the fact that the noise is the men’s thoughts which is displayed as holographic waves hovering above each of them. At first, it looked a bit tacky to me but I soon got used to seeing it.

I feel like this movie would serve better as a show because of how rushed it seemed. The concept of the movie is a cool idea that could expand into something bigger if there was more time put into it. The acting was executed really well despite some details and depth the script lacked. There was a small romance forming between Todd and Viola, but this didn’t steer away from the main plot. I find this amazing because it’s tiring to see the repetitive cycle of an interesting movie turning into a romance.

This had the perfect amount of action that kept me engaged because of the intensity between Todd helping Viola escape while trying to avoid getting caught by the Mayor.

After watching the movie, I read the reviews and was shocked to see the movie have such a low rating. Despite some of the critics I have of the movie, it’s still a good watch and worth the time. However, one thing I’ve learned is that critics aren’t always right and harshly criticize content. So, take their reviews with a grain of salt and form your own opinions.

Overall, I enjoyed the intense action and fighting. The ending wrapped up well but it didn’t feel like a complete ending so I assume there will possibly be a sequel in the near future. I would definitely recommend this movie and watch it again!
