Miss Cherokeean Pageant 2021

Mariana Razo, Editor-in-Chief

Congratulations to the following young ladies who won awards at Miss Cherokeean held Saturday evening, March 13, 2021 at Gaffney High School!

At the beginning of the pageant, contestants participated in an opening number to “This is Me” where they showcased the masquerade masks they created, designed, and crafted to show their personality and to go along with the pageant theme, Behind the Mask.

The emcee for the evening was Brandon Watkins, a Ewing Middle School teacher. He introduced the 2020 Miss Cherokeean, Ansleigh Touchberry. Entertainment was provided by senior Kyndal Jackson, who sang Adele’s Someone Like You; juniors Addison Horton and Celeste Bohn who sang a duet to “For Good” from the Broadway musical Wicked; and Hallie Smith, who did a contemporary dance to “Sweet Creature.”

Contestants competed in a private interview that morning, and casual wear and evening gown later that night.

GHS principal Mr. Erik Gerstenacker, GHS Homecoming Queen Amareia Dawkins, and Miss Cherokeean 2020 Ansleigh Touchberry were on stage to help present the awards.
