Life Without Entertainment

Life Without Entertainment

Amiria Hopper, Staff Writer

Most people have probably wondered what life will be like without technology or money, but have you ever considered what it would be like without entertainment? Possibly, it would be as boring as watching paint dry; or, maybe it will change today’s society for the better. I guess you won’t ever know if you never had a time in your life without being surrounded by some sort of entertainment. But, just for one second, imagine what would happen without any mode of amusement or leisure activities at all.
If we would ever live a life without entertainment, that would most likely mean we won’t have Iphones, Samsung Galaxy’s/Note’s, nor any other type of advanced cell phone, but just traditional phones. Today’s new and improved cell phones are actually the biggest form of entertainment since the 2000s. As a daily habit, the average teenager uses cell phone apps such Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, etc. to occupy their free time. Without those apps, teenagers would probably freak out and think they’ll be miserable without such sources of fun from technology. And since advanced cell phones won’t be able to exist, you best believe MP3 players, laptops, headphones, books, TVs, or even VR would not exist either. Do you think life would be great if we had no entertainment yet?
In addition to not being able to have advanced technology, of course you would already know you would have no places to go for leisurely time as well. If we live in a world with no entertainment, that, more likely than not, means we would not be able to go to the movies, we wouldn’t be able to go to amusement parks (it probably wouldn’t even be invented without the creation of entertainment itself), we wouldn’t be able to go to circuses nor plays, and we would never be able to go to book stores, have tours at the beach, play on playgrounds, and never have parties or raves. And that’s going to lead to very dull lives and complaints from everyone if it ever were to occur.
Based on what I’ve said before, do you feel as if life would be absolutely horrible without entertainment? Do you think it’ll be just plain dull, or uninteresting? Or do you think it’ll be better that way, considering there are other things to do to have fun? Like going outside and playing tag or hide and go seek, as our elders would always say? Do you believe you could just find ways to play and enjoy yourself all day outside for the rest of your life as the people who lived in the past did without cell phones then, or would you still want this life back? With cell phones, radios, TVs, movies, and etc.?
