Tonight the Gaffney Indians move on to the second round of the playoffs, traveling to Sumter, South Carolina to play the Sumter High School Gamecocks.

The Indians are coming off of a big game against Rock Hill in the first round of the playoffs, beating the Bearcats 27-6. Quarterback Undre Lindsay had 306 yards, and had 2 touchdowns, with one interception. Kelvin Kirby rushed for 46 yards, and had 1 touchdown for the Indians. Jemari Littlejohn rushed for 69 yards and had 1 touchdown.

Tonight the Indians will play undefeated Sumter, who are looking to remain unbeaten and move on to the third round of the 5-A playoffs. The Gamecock offense is something the Indians haven’t seen all season, and this explosive Gamecock offense will be hard to handle for the Indians’ defense.

The Indians have had three losses so far this season, two being at home, and one away. The losses come to the hands of Mallard Creek, Byrnes, and Dorman. The Gamecocks haven’t lost to anyone, but have had a few close games, like against Spring Valley and Irmo, while otherwise having big offensive blowouts, that can be said the same for the Indians also, having three losses to the season, but otherwise big offensive games led by Quarterback Undre Lindsay, like vs Greenwood in the season opener, Union, Riverside, Boiling Springs, and a huge win over Spartanburg, winning 63-14, the largest margin of victory ever in the series against the Vikings.

The 2nd round of the 5A high school football playoffs begin tonight, at 7:30pm in Sumter SC. The Gamecocks are ranked #7 in the state, while the Indians are ranked #5 in the state. Whoever wins, will move on to the third round of the playoffs, and get closer and closer to the state championship.
