We have all heard of Yeti for some time due to their coolers and tumblers, but the last couple of years, a new brand has blown up: Hydroflask. Being the person I am, I  wondered which one is more worth your money?

Going onto both websites, Yeti had coolers, drink ware, accessories for your drink ware, bags, gear, and a custom page, where you could decorate your own cup. Yeti had so much more to offer than just water bottles. Hydroflask’s website was mainly centered around the bottles, but they also offer apparel, packs, coolers, and water bottle accessories. Both websites were very nicely laid out and would catch anyone’s eye if they just happened to pop up on someone’s screen.

Both bottles are dishwasher safe, and do not sweat. They both are made with 18/8 pro-grade stainless steel, and are double wall vacuum insulated. Hydroflask advertises staying hot for up to six hours, and staying cold for twenty-four hours. Yeti did not give an estimate, but stated, “Due to all the variables that can affect ice retention, we cant guarantee a precise amount of time”. They both come in many different colors as well, and both are customizable.

The price differences aren’t that drastic though. An eighteen ounce Hydroflask is $29.95, making it about $1.66 per ounce. The eighteen ounce Yeti is $29.99, making it about $1.67 per ounce. I could not compare the other sizes because the eighteen ounce is the only common size between the two brands.

Hydroflask is easier to dent, however. Yeti and Hydroflask both come with a lifetime warranty.

I decided to put the Yeti tumbler and the Hydroflask bottle to the test. I put 8 ice cubes in both and filled them to the top with room temperature water. They both melted about at the same rate. After about twelve hours the water was still cold. By hour 16, the water was basically room temperature again.

In conclusion, each brand seems to do what they claim, so picking one over the other is up to your preference. They are both good products, and may be worth your money in the long run!
