See You at the Pole 2018

See You at the Pole. It began in 1990 after a group of high school students in Texas decided they wanted to pray at their school. Over 25 years later, millions of students globally gather on the fourth Wednesday of September to pray for their school and community. Cherokee County participates in this, as this past Wednesday hundreds of middle and high school students gathered at their flag poles to pray for our nation, our schools, our government, and the impact See You at the Pole will have across the globe. Not only that, but it kicked off Sunday night with a prayer concert at Kirby Church, and ended Wednesday night with a celebratory night of worship and speaking at First Baptist Church Gaffney.

This year, the theme for See You at the Pole was ‘Broken.’ The theme verse, Ephesians 3:14, states, “ For this reason I kneel before the Father…” Paul the Apostle, a murderer of Christians converted to a missionary for Christ, wrote this to the church of Ephesus to show that church how he humbled himself before the Father. He became broken and got down on his knees and pleaded to God for revival to come upon those he was writing to. In the same way, Christians today can refer back to this passage as an encouragement to do the same.

When asked how to start a revival, a popular British evangelist said, “Go home. Lock yourself in your room. Kneel down in the middle of the floor, and with a piece of chalk, draw a circle around yourself. There on your knees, pray fervently and brokenly that God would start a revival within that chalk circle” (http://syatp.com/).

Revival doesn’t happen unless someone brings it. It begins in broken hearts, pleading for change in themselves and in the world around them. We’re on the brink of revival in our generation today. We’re ripe for it right now – even in a world as chaotic as the one we’re living in. The only way we can find it is for young Christians to find themselves broken before God, allowing Him to change us so that he can use us to change the world around us. The point of See You at the Pole’s theme this year was to generate in the heart’s of young students a mentality geared towards this concept of brokenness within so that we can shift the brokenness we see without.

Wednesday, September 24th at 7:30 a.m., hundreds of Gaffney High School Students gathered in front of the school to plead to God to bring that revival. Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team wants to thank everyone who came out to make this event such a success.
