Poetry Slam 2018

Each year, Gaffney High Schools Literary Magazine, The Pinnacle, hosts a Poetry Slam, where students in every English class submit their best poem. The ones who are selected read their poem aloud in the auditorium; each English class comes during their English period to watch the contest and vote for their favorite poem. The poem with the most votes wins!

8. Zoe Hurst – “Father”
9. Jacob Schneider – “Written In Gold”
10. Madisynn Whitaker – “Tick Tock”
11. Hunter Bullock – “You Protect Me”
12. Desirae Chitwood – “Korbin”
13. Emily Horchler – “Who Are We?”
14. Ian Stark – “The Memories”
15. Emma Beaumont – “The Man in the Moon”
16. Brandon Bowen – “I Wrote a Poem Instead of Taking a Quiz”
17. Caleb Hames – “My Other Half”
18. Mary Knuckles – “Pink Armor”
19. Bria Wise – “Only Human”
The first place winner was Dejenae Hopper, the second place winner was Caleb Hames, and the third place winner was Jaelen Pollard and Na’Tron Johnson.
