Tips to Stay Safe on Halloween

Cassie Martin, Assistant Editor

This is the time of year that everyone dresses up and goes around to house to house collecting candy (unless you are the person that goes to parties or just stays inside.) Also around this year, we hear cases of children being poisoned or injured by sabotaged candy, or we hear cases about someone going missing or driving after a massive party. In consideration of your Halloween night, here are some tips on how you can stay safe on Halloween:
• Always go out in a group and stay with that group.
• Carry a source of light, whether it be a flashlight, lantern, or a cell phone.
• Cross streets when it is legal and safe to do so.
• Do not text and walk/drive.
• Do not walk in the road- use sidewalks.
• Drive slowly in busy neighborhoods.
• Dress appropriately – check the weather before hand.
• Have a planned walking route.
• Never eat candy before it is checked for anything suspicious.
• Do not enter a home or car to obtain candy.
• Do not drink and drive if you go to a party.
• Go to a party where you know the host.
