Music, masks, and mosaics…  these are only a few of the sights and sounds on display each year at the Arts Expo – a night in which the arts have a much needed opportunity to come alive and breathe in Cherokee County.

On Tuesday, March 28th, the 15th annual Arts Expo was held at Gaffney High School. The Arts Expo is a celebration of achievement of all art forms with displays and performances by Cherokee County students ranging from kindergarten to the 12th grade. The school was packed full of artists, parents, and spectators as performances took place all throughout the building:

Performances in the GHS gymnasium included:

Blacksburg High School Winter Guard, Gaffney High School JV/Varsity Winter Guard, GHS Jr. Percussion, GHS Percussive Arts, and GHS Indoor Theater

Performances in the GHS auditorium included:

Elementary Honor Choir, Middle School Honor Choir, BHS Chorus, BHS Concert Band, Middle School Bands of Gaffney, GHS Honor Choir, and GHS Jazz Band

The commons area was full of visual art ranging from abstract portraits, photography, self portraits, clay pots and molds, and tribal masks.

The Visual and Performing Arts Mission Statement:

“The mission of Arts Education for Cherokee County School District, in partnership with family and community, is to provide an artistically rich education through which each individual can discover, express, create, and succeed in global society.”
