Students Travel to Inauguration

Every year, a group of students from Gaffney High School travels to Washington, D.C., in the spring to embrace our nation’s capital. This year, however, they took the trip in January to witness the historical inauguration of President Donald J. Trump.

Many of our students prepared for the ceremony with bated breath and excitement in their hearts. “I was honored and really amazed. To know that I can point at my child’s history book one day and say that I witnessed that was a really amazing feeling,” senior Dylan Painter said of the ceremony. ” I would return without hesitation. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will be remembered throughout history.”

“The environment was filled with so many different feelings,” described Alli McCraw. “Being a part of such a historic piece of history made me realize everything that had to go into it.”

Junior Quint Little said he enjoyed seeing the Women’s March on Washington and that he would love to return to our nation’s capital.

“I was looking forward to seeing the first president that I voted for being inaugurated right in front of my eyes,” Hunter House said about the opportunity. He felt that hearing Trump’s speech made every penny he spent on the trip worth it.
