Gaffney High Students Donate Blood to Save Lives

Friday, November 18, 2016, The Gaffney High School student council hosted the annual Blood Drive.  There were about 78 students and faculty members who gave blood,  and over 66 units of blood were collected.  For about 5 years now the Red Cross has sponsored the Blood Drive here at Gaffney High School.

“We enjoyed hosting the blood drive as it is a way to give back to the community,” said Stephanie Ooley, one of the student council sponsors.

The students who participated and donated blood in the blood drive on Friday all had the chance to vote on which administrator they wanted to receive and pie in the face at the Christmas Assembly, Dr. Fitzpatrick (who represented the University of South Carolina) or Mr. Manuel (who represented Clemson Tigers). Clemson fans donated more pints; therefore, Dr. Fitzpatrick will get the pie in the face during the Christmas donation assembly.

“We have several people who always donate such as Mr. Littlejohn. We will be hosting another blood drive in the spring, and we encourage everyone (17 and over) to donate,” said Ooley.
