On September 11th, 2001 a national tragedy took place that would shake the foundation of the United States. When two planes hit the world trade center in New york city. This all took place within 102 minutes with almost 3,000 people killed. The pentagon also was hit badly during the attack on the world trade center and the third plane killed about 184 people in the crash. One notable thing to come with this tragedy is that the NFL was canceled for a whole week due to the events of 9/11 and to honor those who sadly died. Almost 18,000 businesses were shut down or destroyed from the events at the world trade center. One key part from 9/11 is that the stock markets followed the tragedy and it took so many years for the markets to increase once more. The whole market was temporarily shut down for the following week after the events. A new law was passed following the attacks called the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act and it was passed to share losses between the federal government and the insurance industry. In total the stock lost a total of over $1.4 trillion dollars in terms of the market’s value. Looking back at 9/11 22 years after the incident is a grim story in of itself but we must remember those who sadly lost their life and their families changed forever. Let us all unite as one to protect each other from now on.
