From Buzzfeed to successfully building their own media empire, ‘Try Guys’ has officially become a trio.

Ned Fulmer, a now ex-member of the Try Guys, has found himself and the internet persona he created in the spotlight. Known for the love and adoration he had for his wife; Fulmer was caught with his coworker, Alex Herring, earlier this month. When rumors and social media threads boomed after pictures were leaked: the response was gruesome and quick. Though, the situation is more than just an internet heartbreak, as a workplace affair puts the whole group pushed into a new narrative – one in which that’s completely off brand.

The Try Guys consist of Eugene Lee Yang, Zach Kornfeld, and Keith Habersberger. While separating themselves from Buzzfeed in late 2018 and forming their own company, they produce a wide variety of entertainment for their YouTube channel, along with their upcoming show, podcast, book, and spinoffs such as ‘Try Wives’. With simplicity and wholesome laughter from the friend group, a scandal such as this one was highly unexpected.

News first broke out on September 26th on Twitter and Reddit with pictures and allegations circling both platforms. The pictures provided showed Ned Fulmer and producer Alex Herring kissing and being alone in a New York City Bar. Though, more than just speculation and outrage came after the picture. A timeline seemed to thus start and connect as more pictures and allegations were further released – such as the two seen alone at a Harry Styles concert.

Word quickly became whispers to booming reactions, as videos circulated more and more onto popular social media platforms and Try Guy’s very own home – YouTube.

Not skipping a beat, the company itself released statements along with Ned Fulmer and his wife, Ariel, which confirmed the allegations to be fact.

“Family should have always been my priority, but I lost focus and had a consensual workplace relationship. I’m sorry for any pain that my actions may have caused to the guys and the fans but most importantly Ariel. The only thing that matters right now is my marriage and my children, and that’s where I’m going to focus my attention.” Fulmer wrote in a social media post. Though what the comedy troupe posted was a shock for how quick it seemed – one in which that announced removing Fulmer from the group.

In a short and direct post, they stated: “Ned Fulmer is no longer working with The Try Guys. As a result of a thorough internal review, we do not see a path forward together. We thank you for your support as we navigate this change.”

To outsiders, the whole scandal may come off as confusing due to the intense reactions from fans and media alike. But, when the ‘good guy’ and loyal husband mask is seemingly ripped off, it feels more like betrayal and a harsh stab in the back to fans than nothing more or less than a mistake.

Ariel took to her own social media to write her response to the quickly spread drama, where she thanked the fans for their support and requested “privacy for the sake of our kids.”

Late night on October 3rd, the Try Guys released a more in-depth response compared to their short post on the scandal at hand.

With Eugene, Zach, and Keith all sitting down and speaking to the camera on the impact, their work behind all the ruckus of rumors, and reassurance on the future.

Zach opens, saying, “By now, we’re assuming you’ve seen the Reddit threads and Tiktoks and tweets and news articles. We want to give you a timeline of what’s transpired and some transparency into our decision-making.”

“From the jump, we were acutely aware of just how contrary this was to the values of the company we’ve built and those who work here,” Eugene stated. “We refused to sweep things under the rug. That is not who we are and is not what we stand for.”

Furthermore, Keith touched base and said for now they plan to bring the best possible content until the end of this year. Though, when 2023 hits, they plan to pause and reflect on “figuring out what the future of this channel looks like.”
