Introduucing the teacher of the week for August 22-26, 2022. Daniel Gregory, a resident history teacher of Gaffney High school has been teaching for twelve years total and he’s been teaching at Gaffney for seven years. He was also a baseball coach for five years from 2016-2021. Mr. Gregory decided to pursue teaching  after becoming inspired by his high school teachers who offered him words of encouragement throughout his schooling experience to follow his goal of coaching multiple sports leading him to realize that he enjoyed teaching others. Mr. Gregory looks for students to gain a fresh perspective on the content being covered more so than when they originally walked in, and eagerly welcomes discussions and debates on the topic at hand. His favorite part of teaching is interacting with his students,  learning more about them and their lives while watching them grow and prepare for the future. His expectations are that students give everything and give their all while allowing their classmates to do the same, providing an apt learning environment while also engaging with his students.  Mr. Gregory stated “If we can start with a baseline of trust and respect, then the rigor and content will flow much easier.” Showing that he values his relationship with his students. He prefers a more direct approach when teaching, allowing him to assist students who are confused or struggling. Overall Mr. Gregory is excited for his current and upcoming classes and he looks forward to seeing where this journey will take him.
