Dive Into P.Y.T.’s Legendary Grill & Bar

Gretchen Hatley

Located in downtown Gaffney, P.Y.T.’s Legendary Grill & Bar welcomes customers with excellent food and a lively, home-like atmosphere.

As I did, you’ll find yourself strolling into an immediate cozy environment just by opening the doors. Dim lights, nostalgic music, comfortable booths, and friendly, hard-working staff – P.Y.T.’s sets the foundation for a great time out. I went in around six p.m. and was quickly served and sat at a booth. The small, cozy lounge area they have is no different than the heart of the restaurant: relaxing and inviting, with chairs and a few arcade games.

P.Y.T.’s menu is full of delicious choices. From steaks to seafood, P.Y.T’s variety stands out in quality and appeal. I chose the ‘Finger Lick’n Chick’n Dip’ for my starter and had their ‘Legendary Baby Back Ribs’, accompanied by a side of mashed potatoes and a salad. I wasn’t alone, as my mom ordered their Ribeye steak.

The food lives up to the word on their menus: legendary. Customers don’t have to worry about long waits on their food or poor taste, P.Y.T’s manages to serve food quickly without lowering the exquisite flavor of each meal they offer. The starter choice ‘Finger Lick’n Chick’n Dip’ not only caught my eye but was a recommendation, and I couldn’t have been happier with my decision. Every meal served didn’t fall flat. The lettuce and fruit being fresh in my salad, my mouth watering starter incredibly warm, and the steak and ribs packed with flavor in each bite. When my food was first served, I remember being astonished by how large the portions for their Ribeye steak and Baby Back Ribs were. Every ingredient complimented each other and did not disappoint. It was more flavorful than what I had imagined; tasting as good as it looked and going beyond any description. This is a restaurant where you can just glance at your food and know for a fact that a vast amount of effort and brilliant skill was put into its making.

Every server there was patient, affable, and studious. I had the pleasure of speaking to Lyndsay that night who was nothing but helpful and kind.

The family owned business has been in Gaffney, SC. From February 26th, 2019 to present. Forrest Brown, the owner, is the son of the original owner of Carolina Café. Wanting to branch out into the restaurant business himself, P.Y.T’s thus begun. The downtown area would soon show to be a perfect fit for the bubbling restaurant, along with P.Y.T’s in Gaffney itself. P.Y.T’s has won Golden Peach Awards – since they made their debut, they’ve won ‘Best Steak’, and this year they gained the award of ‘Best All Around Restaurant.’

Continuing my conversation with Lyndsay, I was curious on how she views the environment and what it’s like to work there. The more she spoke, the more it was apparent that the atmosphere P.Y.T creates is heavily mutual between staff and customers. Lyndsay describes it as “fun, friendly, and homely,” speaking on how it’s a great place to work at and a rewarding job as well. She tells me that regardless of some slower days, she “loves coming here.”

With a wonderful crew, atmosphere, and rich, savory food: P.Y.T’s Legendary Bar & Grill stands boldly out in downtown Gaffney. They never fail to make everyone who walks in feel any less than family.
